2. Cody Rhodes

Ever so slightly ahead of Punk in terms of total time spent in the Rumble, is another WWE alumni in the form of Cody Rhodes.

Unlike Punk, Cody managed to breach the three-hour mark before his unexpected departure, reaching the milestone under the Stardust gimmick and in fairly muted circumstances at last year’s event.

Cody is also one of very few men with five or more stints lasting over 20 minutes, further reinforcing that he was no flash in the pan when it came to the Rumble. His most noteworthy shifts came in 2009 when he last more than 37 minutes and 2012 when he managed 41 minutes and 55 seconds.

Furthermore, he’s twice been asked to pull double-duty; in both 2013 and 2014 he competed in Tag Team Championship bouts before entering the 30-man match, where he managed stands of 27 and 21 minutes respectively.

Again though, it’s a similar story; despite those stats, Cody’s name isn’t one you often associate with discussions regarding Royal Rumble greats. That’s fair enough given that he can’t boast any tangible success, but it's also enough to make him one of the most underrated performers in the match’s history.
