10 Most Underrated WWE WrestleMania Matches Ever
3. Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley - WrestleMania 36
With the exception of the two cinematic matches, it’s hard to imagine many of the empty arena era bouts will be repeated much on WWE highlight packages. This is especially true of the handful of PPVs that took place prior to the Thunderdome. At WrestleMania 36, the scene was one of eerie quiet, making a rewatch quite uncomfortable.
Honestly we’re not losing too much consigning the card to history, but one match that deserved a hot crowd was the NXT Women’s Championship showdown between Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair. Evidencing a remarkable chemistry they’d continue to utilise into 2021, the women put on a clinic that few will take the time to revisit.
A physical match that showed off the power of both women, this featured the best in-ring work over the two nights and offered a great main roster showcase for Ripley, who went toe to toe with Flair and tossed her around the ring a fair bit before succumbing to the veteran’s clinical attack on her knee.
Ripley most likely should have won this (a recurring theme in the pair’s future work) but she looked great in defeat, proving she can hang at the top level (even if WWE seem to have forgotten this).
