10 Most Undeserved Pushes In WWE History

3. Jeff Jarrett

What were saying about nepotism, again? Jeff Jarrett certainly benefitted it. His father Jerry Jarrett the United States Wrestling Association promotion out of Memphis, Tennessee. Guess who became a ten time, USWA Heavyweight Champion and 15 time Tag Team Champion? That's right, good 'ol Double J, Jeff Jarrett. Jerry's son was booked as the star of the promotion, at the expense of others. Jeff was still just a green, skinny kid learning to work who was pushed as a huge star. The fans didn't really buy it, try as they did. When Jeff went out into the big, wide world of the WWF, he found that it's a lot harder to make it when you don't have your daddy handing you championships on a weekly basis. Jarrett took a while to find his feet in the WWF when he moved there in 1993. He had some decent matches and was never really out-and-out terrible, but he wasn't making any progress. Sensing this, Jarrett switched to WCW for a year where, again, he didn't do a whole lot apart from have some decent matches. So it was back to the WWF for JJ. Would he ever receive that main event push again, like he had in his father's company? Well, new WWF writer Vince Russo certainly thought it was time and, in 1999, pushed for Jarrett to feud with top star Steve Austin. 'The Texas Rattlesnake' and his ally Jim Ross vetoed that one and Jarrett was off to WCW again. The man who had been a midcarder for the past six years, with a tired and stale routine was booked to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and main event pay-per-views. The company closed soon after and, when he wasn't picked up by Vince McMahon for the Invasion (and 'fired' on air) he started his own promotion where, you guess it, he made himself champion, ahead of more talented and over workers such as Raven and AJ Styles. Did he deserve it? He was the booker. Are you going to argue with him?
