10 Most Undeserving Winners Of Vacant Wrestling Titles

5. The Great Khali

There are a couple of reasons as to why I’ve included the Great Khali on this list. The first may seem a little harsh, as its simply due to the fact that Khali wasn’t World Champion material.

Standing at over seven feet tall, that certainly makes Khali a sight to behold. It also makes him rather clumsy inside the ring, given the colossal size of his limbs. As such, we were never going to see world-class championship bouts with Khali holding the belt, and so he should have been used exclusively in a “special attraction” capacity.

The second reason is less a reflection of Khali’s ability and more a reflection of uninspired booking, because when the big man won the vacant World Heavyweight Championship, his win came in a Battle Royal.

Not only that, but it was a Battle Royal that took place on a routine episode of SmackDown, and was only announced on the very same day that Edge vacated the belt due to injury.

If that doesn’t scream “hastily-arranged-back-up-plan” than frankly I don’t know what does. Obviously it can’t be easy reacting to a legitimate injury, but surely they could have produced something a little better than this?
