10 Most Undeserving Winners Of Vacant Wrestling Titles

4. Chief Morley

He may be more widely-known for winning gold as Val Venis—including both the Intercontinental and European titles—but Sean Morley also managed to acquire a Tag Team Championship during his brief run as Chief Morley.

I used the word “acquire” in its most passive sense, because Chief Morley took ownership of the titles without any kind of preceding match to decide the winners of the vacated belts.

As Chief of Staff, Morley had some pull in the most important of places. So when William Regal suffered an injury, thus forcing himself and Lance Storm to vacate the Tag Team Championships, Morley managed to finagle a stint with the belts by having Eric Bischoff simply award them to himself and Storm.

You could certainly make the case that Storm was deserving of hanging onto his title, but no chance for Mr Morley I’m afraid.

Perhaps we saw justice rightfully served then the following week on Raw, when Kane and Rob Van Dam would end Morley’s rather corrupt reign after just seven short days.
