10 Most Unexpected WWE Burials Ever
9. Kevin Owens
At SummerSlam 2016, Finn Balor defeated Seth Rollins to become the first-ever WWE Universal Champion, but picked up a severe shoulder injury in the match. With the Irish sensation set for months on the sidelines, Kevin Owens won a fatal four-way the next night on Raw to win the title in Finn's absence. It was great for KO, who did a marvelous job of establishing the belt as one of the most prestigious in WWE, as well as showing the world that he had what it takes to be a main eventer with the world's biggest wrestling company.
Bill Goldberg is one of the biggest superstars of the Monday Night Wars era, but was 50 years old when he challenged Kevin Owens for his Universal Championship at Fastlane 2017. With WrestleMania 33 around the corner, the smart money was on Goldberg winning the title and carrying it into the biggest show of the year... but the veteran crushing Owens in 22 seconds was a shock for all the wrong reasons.
After a seven-month reign for Owens, great promos every week, a superb angle with his "best friend" Chris Jericho, and competing in lengthy battles with the likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Braun Strowman, Goldberg flattening the Canadian made all of these men look weak. That this remains Kevin Owens' only run with WWE's biggest prize in singles competition is an actual crime.
