10 Most Unique Submissions In UFC History
3. Twister
Who: Chan Sung Jung vs. Leonard Garcia
When: UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis
While the contorting manoeuvre has since been replicated very recently by Bryce Mitchell, nothing can top the original perpetrator of one of MMA's most fascinating submissions.
The Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung, landed himself on every highlight reel for the next decade and beyond by submitting Leonard Garcia with a Twister, one of the only moves with a description that lies entirely in the title.
Having your opponents back, with your own on the mat, does open up a few opportunities for submissions, but few were expecting Korean Zombie to wrap around a move that had previously never been seen in the UFC before.
Locking in opposite limbs (left leg and right arm or vice versa), the Twister simply requires you to... twist!
Wrenching their head and neck the opposite way to their lower half, the aim is to twist the hell out of their spine, and pretty much every part of their body from head to toe.
You can see the awkwardness of it, but the pain on the face of Garcia tells the whole story.
Sending half the body in the opposite direction to the rest of it is nothing but pure pain.
