Countless wrestlers have mastered the art of selling a Superkick like a gunshot. While dozens of wrestlers have adopted the strike as part of their regular movesets, the likes of Shawn Michaels helped make it a definitive match-ender. When HBK hit you on the chin, the match was over 9 times out of 10, particularly when it came out of nowhere.

Michaels would often hit the Sweet Chin Music with an elaborate setup. He’d spend several seconds “tuning the band” by stomping his foot into the mat, then launching forward, taking aim at the opponent’s jaw. Sometimes, however, he threw some variety into the mix, and Shelton Benjamin took it spectacularly in 2005.

Competing in an outstanding match on Monday Night Raw, this killshot ended Benjamin’s hopes of advancing in the Gold Rush Tournament. Standing outside the ring, Benjamin tried to gain the upper hand by springboarding back towards his opponent, only to get Superkicked straight out of the sky. Shelton hit the deck like a sack of potatoesl, and the moment was soon immortalised in countless gifs and highlight packages, ensuring he’ll never forget the hardest shot he ever took.
