10 Most Unique Ways Wrestlers Took WWE Finishers

2. Seth Rollins Eats A Super RKO

WWE did a grand old job of running the “RKO outta nowhere” meme into the ground almost as soon as it rose to prominence. Randy Orton can’t hit the move without one of the company’s announcers screaming the phrase, even in 2017, and as a result, the RKO’s shock factor is almost totally gone. This is a shame, as the sheer number of different scenarios in which Orton can hit the move is almost incomprehensible.

As much as Orton is celebrated for his innovations in executing the RKO, however, some of his victims deserve just as much credit. Seth Rollins stands-out among them, and while The Architect has taken an RKO many times in his career, WrestleMania 31 was his most epic moment.

Rollins had Orton dead to rites. Seemingly set to have his face Curb Stomped into the mat, it looked like The Viper was resigned to his fate, and when Seth careened towards him, there was nothing he could do. Except there was: just as Rollins leapt into the air, Orton sprung to life, countering the Curb Stomp into one of the most spectacular RKOs of all-time, displaying tremendous ingenuity from both men, particularly Rollins for his midair adjustment.
