10 Most Universally Respected Wrestlers Ever

10. John Cena

This should be prefaced by saying that not everyone is a fan of John Cena. Former WWE stars such as Tyler Reks, Alex Riley, Mr. Kennedy and Chavo Guerrero Jr. have spoken of their issues with Cena, stemming from supposed bullying and career sabotage at the hands of Cena. Not too many of these stories have been corroborated, but in pro wrestling who cares about evidence?

Despite these bitter words, Cena is often spoken of in highly respectful tones by almost everyone else in pro wrestling. Many acknowledge the work that Cena has done for WWE, his absolute commitment to the company and impressive catalogue of charity work.

Simply put, it is nigh on impossible to stay at the top of the professional wrestling industry for as long as Cena has without commanding the respect of your peers. Ric Flair, Chris Jericho, heck, even CM Punk has mostly had nice things to say about The Face That Runs The Place. If Cena is indeed slowly moving away from the pro wrestling world, not one of his peers will begrudge him that.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
