10 Most Unlikely WWE World Champions Ever

1. Kane

Glenn Jacobs couldn't catch a break before he began playing the Kane character in late-1997. His main duties prior to becoming The Undertaker's storyline brethren were fulfilling the role as Jerry Lawler's 'evil dentist', and being a rip-off of Kevin Nash's Diesel character, following Nash uprooting from WWE and heading to WCW in 1996. When the persona of Kane was pitched to him, the big man likely figured he'd get one big match out of it with The Undertaker, likely at Wrestlemania, so it was worth a shot. Introduced during the infamous Hell In A Cell match between 'Taker and Shawn Michaels in October, 1997, Kane marched down the aisle and ripped the cell door from it's hinges, all before hitting his kayfabe brother with a Tombstone Piledriver. Longtime manager of The Undertaker, Paul Bearer, claimed that Kane wanted vengeance on his sibling for horrific burns he suffered as a result of a fire ignited by The Deadman, and it was clear to everyone that 'Taker would dispatch this monstrous new foe in quick fashion, and Glenn Jacobs would have to go back to limbo. As we all know, that didn't happen. Even though he was only supposed to be a short-lived character, Kane is still a huge part of WWE television today, and even grabbed the WWE Title from none other than Steve Austin at the King Of The Ring PPV in 1998. Only holding the belt for one day, Kane has had subsequent reigns with the World Title, and it's true that the guy is one of the most unlikely success stories (and champions) in wrestling history. Who are some of the other most unlikely World Champions in WWE history? Are there any who simply shouldn't have been given a run with the belt? Who do you feel is the next unlikely champion?
