10 Most Unlikely WWE World Champions Ever

2. The Miz

These days, tell any new WWE fan that The Miz headlined Wrestlemania as WWE Champion, and they'll likely laugh in your face, before pointing to his mid-card gimmick with Damien Sandow as evidence to why you're telling porkies. The Miz stands out on this list, because he's someone nobody thought would even last on the WWE roster, never mind become the main titleholder, and main event the biggest annual event on the wrestling calendar. Ridiculed by all and sundry for his background in reality television, and goofy antics whenever he appeared on camera, Mike Mizanin came across as an extremely hard-to-like individual, and one of the most slappable guys around. The victim of various forms of taunting and bullying in the WWE locker room, The Miz shut a lot of mouths when he all-of-a-sudden became one of the most entertaining guys under contract in 2010. After winning the WWE Title in November, 2010, by cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase on Raw to vanquish Randy Orton, The Miz held the title until May the following year, losing out to John Cena. He hasn't come close to the top of the card in the same way since, but then again, no-one thought the guy would be there in the first place.
