10 Most Unsuccessful WWE Tournament Winners
3. T.J. Perkins
Representing
the Philippines in the Cruiserweight Classic, T.J. Perkins dazzled audiences
with his lightning quick strikes, death-defying leaps and technical prowess.
After 18 years on the indy scene, surviving homelessness and bankruptcy, he had
finally achieved his dream of making it to WWE. Of the four semifinalists, he
was the least likely to become the new Cruiserweight Champion. But he did it.
And
it’s been all downhill since. When the revitalized cruiserweight division first
appeared on Raw, Perkins wasn’t even featured. When he did appear, he was given
a gamer character with dorky dialogue albeit a pretty cool entrance. He entered
into a feud with Brian Kendrick, who basically made TJP into a dope. Kendrick,
a well-known manipulative liar, faked an injury, luring the compassionate yet
foolish Perkins into a trap to lose the title just two months after winning it.
Now
referred to as TJP, he has become just another lifeless character in the
destroyed division.
