6. Handcuffs

Generally speaking, the premise behind a ladder match is to incapacitate your opponent to the point that they€™re unable to prevent you from ascending the ladder and capturing the prize that hangs overhead. Simple. Of course, there are other, less orthodox ways of going about this, one of which we saw in all its glory in 2011 when the Miz inventively handcuffed CM Punk to the middle turnbuckle in a bid to stop him from winning the match. It was a crafty plan, but Punk would eventually manage to free himself by unscrewing the turnbuckle from its hinges to save Charles Robinson the hassle after the show. The Second City Saint went on to win the match in what was the first pay-per-view defence of his mammoth 434-day title reign, rendering Miz€™s handiwork to no avail. Still, it was a novel use of a foreign object to develop the story of the match. And hey, at least it beats the duct tape debacle of Extreme Rules 2010€
