WrestleMania IX was far from the best WrestleMania show - it was actually one of the worst - but for many years it held an interesting distinction. Up until WrestleMania 24, WrestleMania IX was the only edition of the show of shows to be held outdoors. At Caesar's Palace casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, fans (or just tourists in town) got to watch the event under a clear blue sky.

It wasn't just the fact that the show was outside that made the venue so unique. In keeping with the casino's name and theme, the entire event had the flavor of ancient Rome. There were yellow pillars everywhere, the announcers wore togas, and there were purple carpets and drapery adorning the ringside area.

The fact that it wasn't a "real" arena was also kind of jarring, with fans packed into risers (and viewers could only guess how well they could all see).

It's no surprise that this remains the least traditional WrestleMania venue.
