There's something genuinely strange about the prospect of three different announcers appearing in the same Royal Rumble match, but that's what happened in 2012. At the time, Michael Cole was playing a heel character directly opposed to Jerry 'The King' Lawler. The pair had already met at WrestleMania XXVII the year before, and both entered the Rumble months later. Lawler was the first to enter at #12, and only lasted 43 seconds in total. Then, Booker T was next to depart the commentary table at #17, lasting just shy of 5 minutes in the bout. When the countdown for #20 began, Cole foreshadowed his own entry by claiming he had an idea who was about to come down the aisle. Stripping down to his intentionally horrible orange singlet, the announcer entered the Rumble. Around 1 minute and 23 seconds later, he was eliminated by both Booker and Lawler, who were positioned the outside of the ring. Again, this was a comedy moment which had no real place in the Royal Rumble. The idea of Michael Cole being entered into a match to determine the top contender for the WWE Title at WrestleMania is absurd, and almost ruins the entire aura of the match.
