Triple H played the "Game" on easy difficulty.

He held the power, and used this cheat code to riff where those around him were made to feel timid and compelled to read from the script. He'd frequently throw barbs in the direction of his rivals, knowing that he'd always win. He didn't however reckon with CM Punk's total inability to give a sh*t about upsetting those in power. Nor did he reckon with Punk's secret weapon, one Triple H was too hubristic to wield: self-deprecation.

During a contract signing for the Undisputed WWE Title match at SummerSlam 2011, Triple H and John Laurinaitis watched on as Punk and John sparred verbally. Punk revealed that he had sourced a movie star that echoed his thoughts on John Cena. It was the Rock. Before it was revealed to be the Rock, Punk let Triple H know that he wasn't referring to him in the Chaperone, implying that he wasn't in fact a star. Triple H improvised.

"How was your movie by the way? I missed it." Trips said.

"Oh mine went straight to DVD, just like yours," Punk responded.

This was spectacular.

For Punk, a potential movie shoot was a European tour off when he was pressured to come back too quickly after an injury For Triple H, it was a real goal (see: Thor) that would put him on equal billing with the Rock in a rivalry that extended beyond TV.
