10 Most Violent Matches In WrestleMania History

2. The Hardyz Vs The Dudleyz Vs Edge & Christian - (WrestleMania 17)

WrestleMania is the time when everyone wants to step their games up, whether they're working in the main event or the opening match. It's when more eyeballs are on you than at any other point in the year, and a great performance can go a long way for your career. The three teams in this match were already out to prove, night in and night out, that they were just as good... and important... as any of the top names in the company. This wasn't the first gimmick match we had seen them competing in, but this was the biggest and the most high-profile. At WrestleMania 16, they competed in a Triangle Ladder Match for the WWF Tag Team Titles, and it was a Match Of The Year candidate for 2000, perhaps only topped by their TLC Match at SummerSlam a few months later, so they had a lot to live up to. Not only did they live up to the hype of their previous matches, they exceeded it. There have been 15 TLC matches in WWE history since this match, but none have been as good, although some have come close. Jeff Hardy's willingness to put his body on the line was never as evident as it was here. From taking a Spear while hanging 20 some-odd feet in the air, to sending his body hurtling from the top of a gigantic ladder while Spike Dudley and Rhyno lay prone below, Jeff took a year or two off of his life with this match alone. Everyone involved in the match, and the three from outside the match that got involved, took at least one big bump, but if you asked them, they'd do it all again in a heartbeat. It's the price you have to pay if you want to steal the show, as they did on one of the biggest stages the sport has ever seen.
