6. The Monday Night Wars
Everybody knows the story of the Monday night wars, whether they can describe it in great detail or just remembered the gist of it. It’s been told a hundred times by different commentators and witnesses, across hundreds of pieces of film and literature.
But while we’ve seen countless retellings of the story from both WWE’s and WCW’s various points of view, we’ve never seen a dramatized version of events, a properly intoxicating portrayal of wrestling’s biggest ratings contest of all time. How great would it be to see a professional, big-budget production that tackles the stunts and personalities involved in the Monday Night Wars?
Some individuals might need to be combined or omitted for the sake of brevity, and some liberties with the truth might need to be taken in the name of dramatic tension and proper pacing, but such a film could wind up being a gloriously nasty chronicling of corporate competition, like wrestling’s answer to The Big Short or The Social Network.
Just so long as they get Eric Bischoff's hair right - that's a very important detail.
