10 Much Loved WWE Superstars Who Ended Up Despised

2. John Cena

John Cena is a contentious choice, but sections of the WWE audience really are vehemently despising of him. This is countered by the fact that many love the guy, especially the kids. Still, the level of hatred in the smarter fans is something spectacular. It isn't heat and it isn't fun, it is a genuine loathing of the fifteen time champion. It all started out so differently. From mid 2003 up until mid 2005 he was loved by all. He was fresh and edgy. He cut fun promos and worked solid feuds. Fans really got behind him. The problem was that it was too much, too soon. His good matches quickly became obviously formulaic. His mic promos became too cutesy. The incessant push and merchandise made fans fatigued. Then when WWE put Cena against Kurt Angle, fans had seen enough. Cena was booed out of the buildings, as fans opted to voice their displeasure at entertainment qualities being pushed ahead of wrestling talent. Those boos and criticisms have haunted Cena ever since.
