10 Much Loved WWE Superstars Who Ended Up Despised
3. Lex Luger
Lex Luger was a mega face in 1993 and 1994, with the sort of 'All American' push that only Hulk Hogan had enjoyed previously. Unsurprisingly, people loved him. He travelled the country in a red, white and blue bus called the Lex Express. He was known as "Made In The USA" and fans couldn't help but to get behind him. Another famous moment was when he bodyslammed Yokozuna on the deck of the USS Intrepid. But none of that involved actual wrestling. When he actually stepped inside the ropes, he was horrible. There are actually good Luger matches out there, but in 93 and 94 he was just too muscular to put on anything approaching good work. As a result, fans lost interest, as did the WWF management. He ended up jumping ship to WCW, where fans hatred of him intensified. He was everything that was wrong with WCW, too old and not athletic enough. However, it was Luger's involvement in the 2003 death of Miss Elizabeth that really tipped fan hatred. The popular 80's WWF valet was found dead in his home, after overdosing on a stash of drugs that Luger kept.
