10 Must See Vader Matches
1. Vs. Sting (WCW Starrcade 1992)
Somehow, it couldn't touch a match between Vader and Sting that was for some naff "King Of Cable" trophy.
Months before they'd work that amazing Strap Match at SuperBrawl III, both men put on a clinic in the co-main event spot at Starrcade 1992. They didn't have the same emotional story as Vader vs. Flair one year later would, but Sting and his big chum from the Rocky Mountains didn't need it.
Even though they were both about to work the lame-duck Battlebowl main event, Vader and Sting produced an absolute classic that must be considered a masterclass in building anticipation for a babyface comeback; you may be sending a pattern there. Vader, to his credit, enjoyed making others look good.
Look out for an incredible DDT from the second turnbuckle on Vader and the same top rope Powerslam finish as the Owen Hart match from One Night Only. There's just one difference: this time, it was Vader taking the bump.
What a guy.
