Paul Heyman has always tried to look after his ECW alumni after the house of extreme collapsed, thus it's no surprise he'd try to get some of his former wrestlers and colleagues in the WWE, after he got his own foot in the door as a commentator and authority figure. One such wrestler was Kid Kash who worked a tryout match with ECW colleague Justin Credible in September, 2001. The match itself is pretty dull, mainly due to Justin Credible stalling for two minutes, in an already brief six minute match. However, the crowd did seem to cheer for Kid Cash's dives and kicks. Also, the crowd seemed to already be familiar with him as he had quite a decent pop on entrance, presumably due to the popularity of ECW. It's said that Kash mainly got a tryout match because of Heyman, but it's plausible they were trying to expand the ECW roster as part of The Invasion angle, with more ECW talent that didn't already previously work for WWE. Kid Kash didn't get a WWE contract until four years later, presumably because the roster was so packed due to all of the ECW and WCW alumni they had already hired, most of which were already relegated to working on b-shows, like WWF Metal and Sunday Night Heat. If the crowd was anything to go by, Kid Kash maybe could have been a decent cruiserweight wrestler or mid-carder.
