10 Name-Drops You Never Thought WWE Would Allow (But They Somehow Did)

1. Sami Zayn Is All Elite

Kurt Angle's obvious reservations about the hiring of Sami Zayn proved to be somewhat valid a year later when someone made the genius decision to give Zayn an open forum to address the live crowd's issues.

Zayn got fed up of the standard of question he was being bombarded with by the WWE Universe and seemingly went off-script by stating that they 'could have asked (him) about AEW' - before following that bombshell up with a shocked expression.

Fans in the arena were rightfully stunned at the mention of WWE's flourishing rival and so was the big boss.

Vince McMahon was apparently 'freaking out' backstage, despite many reporting that the line was actually scripted all along.

Corey Graves' urgency in moving off of the subject - before it had been given enough time to truly resonate with the live audience - highlighted exactly what level of screaming he must have been receiving down his ear-piece in the aftermath of the slip.

If this was in fact WWE's attempt to appear as a bit more 'edgy' in response to AEW's epic Double or Nothing PPV, it's safe to say that it fell flat.

On the bright side, AEW found themselves with a bit of free WWE publicity and I bet you didn't see that coming in 2019.

Madness.
