10 Negatives Heading Into WrestleMania 33

7. Cruiserweights On The Pre-Show

In recent weeks, the Cruiserweight division has started to show signs of actually being an exciting addition to the overall product, rather than an unnecessary sideshow. At Fastlane, Neville and Jack Gallagher just about stole the show in an awesome Cruiserweight Championship match, and with Austin Aries then returning to the fold, the division’s been at its hottest since its big reboot in September of last year.

Unfortunately, though, the company hasn’t quite capitalised on that momentum. Rather than showcasing what will likely be a top-drawer title match between Neville and Aries on the main WrestleMania card, the match has instead been relegated to the pre-show.

That essentially undoes much of the progress that the division has made over the past few weeks, further reinforcing the Cruiserweights as a peripheral part of proceedings.

And even though Aries has done an admirable job of putting a positive spin on things, that doesn’t change the fact that fewer people are going to be exposed to what could well be one of the best all-round matches to be staged on Sunday evening.
