10 Negatives Heading Into WrestleMania 33

8. The Ending Of Charlotte’s Streak

One notable talking point during the lead up to WrestleMania was the ending of Charlotte’s undefeated PPV streak. Since being called up to the main roster, the former Raw Women’s Champion had never been defeated in singles action and was 16-0 in title matches at PPV events.

That added context looked set to add an interesting sub-plot to the Raw Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania, but for reasons only known to WWE, the streak was ended in fairly understated fashion at March’s Fastlane PPV.

Not only did that mean there’d be less at stake come ‘Mania, but it also continued the never-ending game of hot potato that has threatened to devalue the RAW Women’s title. And perhaps most disappointingly of all, it also robbed someone like Bayley of the chance to smash Charlotte’s record at the biggest show of the year, creating the kind of feel-good WrestleMania moment that would be remembered for years to come.

Surely that would have made for a better story than the one surrounding the Fatal 4-Way match we’ll be seeing instead in Orlando?
