10 Negatives Heading Into WrestleMania 33

6. The Mick Foley Debacle

This one stings for a couple of reasons.

First off, even prior to his on-screen firing, Mick Foley has been treated like an absolute chump in his role as General Manager of Raw. Week after week, he’s either being set up to fail by the writers or very openly having his ear chewed off by Stephanie McMahon. Given everything he’s done in the business and for the company, that’s hardly the way they should be treating him.

On top of that, though, they pulled the trigger on his long-awaited dismissal just two weeks shy of WrestleMania. Not only does that seem a tad unfair on Foley—or at least his on-screen character—but it also meant that an awful lot of time was invested in having Stephanie continue to lambaste him, when it should have been spent building the imminent PPV.

In fairness, this whole angle could yet result in some kind of Mick Foley/Cactus Jack cameo at WrestleMania 33, most likely in the Triple H vs. Seth Rollins match.

In which case, I’ll happily eat my words, but if not, it just feels like an awkward time to have pushed ahead with this story.
