10 New Directions After WWE Battleground 2016
1. Give Wyatt A Title Shot
We briefly touched upon Bray Wyatt early, but only in terms
of his Family’s future. What about his own personal fortunes as we move into a
new era on SmackDown?
Well, what we do know is that at Battleground, Wyatt scored a victory over a Champion. Now, unfortunately for him, that Champion is signed to another brand. So it seems unlikely that there’ll be a resultant tag team title shot.
But he may still claim that he deserves a shot at something. And with the fear factor back on his side (props to Xavier Woods for that one) it could be time to pull the trigger on Wyatt and have him go after the big one.
Admittedly, Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt wouldn’t be an entirely new direction, but Wyatt challenging for the title certainly would be. And providing they market it as such, there could be plenty more life in Ambrose vs. Wyatt at the top of the SmackDown brand.
And aside from the above rationale, it could be that Wyatt is the only remaining option. John Cena and AJ Styles look set to meet in one-on-one action at SummerSlam, and Randy Orton of course has a date with Brock Lesnar at the PPV.
Beyond that, you’re into the Dolph Zigglers and Alberto Del Rios of the world, which hardly makes for the most compelling title feud.
So not only might it be the more logical option, Ambrose vs. Wyatt for the WWE Championship may in fact be the only credible option that remains.
