10 New Directions For AEW After WrestleDream 2023

7. Swerve Going Skyward

Swerve Strickland has been waiting on a match like that for a while.

His AEW run seemingly collapsed when Tony Khan failed to pull the trigger on a match vs. Keith Lee, but Sunday's performance vs. Hangman Page was simply awesome. It’s one he and his fans had been hoping to see more of, and nobody could've been disappointed with this particular Mogul's evening.

Arguably, both went a bit overboard on the false finishes towards the end, but that's presumably down to Swerve knowing he had to try steal some attention for himself. Now, coming out of Seattle's show, it’s important that AEW capitalises and puts Swerve in more featured spots going forwards.

He's earned that, and is surely sick of floating around in the background seeing promising stories (like that aforementioned split from Lee) fizzle out when they should be catching fire. No more f*cking about - get Swerve in high profile matches aplenty.
