10 New Directions For WWE After Backlash 2016

7. Dolph Ziggler Heel Turn

As for The Miz’s Backlash opponent, Dolph Ziggler is desperately in need of some sort of a change. While some may say that change should be a departure from the company altogether, that seems a little drastic to me. Instead, why not simply turn him heel and be done with this babyface purgatory that he currently finds himself stuck in.

Simply put, the company have run him into the ground as a face. How are we supposed to take him seriously anymore? He lost the “big one” against Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship at SummerSlam and then he lost the slightly more watered-down “big one” against Miz for the Intercontinental belt at Backlash.

Realistically it can only be a matter of time before his character snaps and flies off the chain. And if a vengeful Ziggler would be too much of a new direction for the company, they could always revert to his old Show-off persona that served him well during his Money in the Bank and subsequent World title run back in 2013.

Whichever way they execute it, they just need to put him out of his misery and give him some kind of a platform for a fresh start.
