10 New Directions For WWE After Hell In A Cell 2018

2. The End Of AJ Styles’ Title Reign

AJ Styles has proudly flown the flag for what those tarred with the 'too small' or 'indy darling' brush can achieve at the highest level for over 300 days now. Everyone who watched his ROH, TNA or New Japan work would have know his skills anyway. WWE seeing them and making him champ? That was never guaranteed.

Something about AJ's contentious win on Sunday and his tearful expression when hoisting the WWE Title aloft suggest his days with the thing are numbered.

At Super Show-Down, Styles and Samoa Joe will work their third straight pay-per-view match. Unlike those at SummerSlam and Hell In A Cell, this will carry a stipulation, and that could bring the curtain down on AJ's title run. After all, it would hardly be a disgrace if he lost the belt to Joe in a No DQ match, and WWE will want something newsworthy to come out of their landmark Australian special.

As a heel champion, Samoa Joe would freshen things up on SmackDown. Post-Styles, he could easily move on to defend against fan favourite Daniel Bryan, who will surely tie up his dealings with The Miz down under too. Meanwhile, AJ can war with Randy Orton in the upper mid card.
