Cody Rhodes was the obvious choice to win this year's MITB ladder match before his nasty pec tear.
He’s been all over the show’s promotion, and the guy has been talking non-stop about winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Title since coming back to the company. Sadly, it looks like that awful injury has ruled Rhodes out of the running for the 2 July pay-per-view.
Drew McIntyre is the next logical choice to grab that briefcase and run with it. The towering Scot has already challenged Roman Reigns for September's Clash At The Castle, but Roman/Paul Heyman can say no to that before McIntyre becomes undeniable at MITB and forces their hand.
'Big D' (as Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are calling him) would be worthy of that occasionally-iffy Money In The Bank status too. He'd forgo the overdone element of surprise and name his date (Clash) for a showdown with the top champ.
