Colour this writer stumped when it comes to working out what Cody Rhodes will be doing between now and SummerSlam. King Of The Ring winner GUNTHER is going for the World Title instead of his WWE prize (which actually makes sense considering he's a Raw star), but that doesn't leave much for Cody to work with.

Anyone who checked out the 'go home' SmackDown pre-King And Queen might've spotted AJ Styles begging GM Nick Aldis for another crack at the big one. AJ lost out to Rhodes at Backlash, but he's desperate to get back in the mix ASAP. That's definitely an option for WWE if they're also clueless about Cody's immediate future.

Few would scoff at Cody vs. AJ II on either Clash or MITB.

Stepping in to play the fighting champion and acknowledge Styles' retirement teases is precisely the sort of thing Rhodes would do too. He's a dignified champ, and one who rewards hard work. It's either that or Cody wars with Solo Sikoa's revamped Bloodline.
