10 New Directions For WWE After Royal Rumble 2017

4. Roman Reigns Vs. The Undertaker

One of the biggest questions heading into last night’s Rumble was that of WWE’s plans for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, and it looks like we have our answer.

Roman Reigns made for an uninspired and unexciting surprise entrant at number 30, but as disappointing as it was to miss-out on Samoa Joe or Finn Balor in that spot, Reigns’ run succeeded. His elimination of The Deadman prompted a chilling death stare from Taker, and given that Undertaker’s only other significant actions came against the warring Goldberg and Brock Lesnar, him vs. Reigns appears to be the next move.

This is exactly what was rumoured last week, though it remains to be seen if a title will be involved. There’s every chance that Reigns will be involved in the Universal Title match at Fastlane having been screwed out of the belt last night. If he ends’ Kevin Owens’ reign, he’ll have the honour of defending the title against The Undertaker on the biggest stage of them all, and it doesn’t get much better than that.

The Undertaker has never been one to take kindly to being eliminated from the Rumble. Bad things are in Reigns’ immediate future, and while Taker’s current schedule remains a complete mystery, his direction is finally clear. Is it as exciting as the previously rumoured Cena vs. Taker match? Absolutely not, but it should be an enjoyable spectacle, and may even provide a platform for the long-awaited Reigns heel turn.
