10 New Directions For WWE After Royal Rumble 2024

3. CM Punk Winning Elimination Chamber

It's official: CM Punk doesn't have a true claim to wrestling Seth Rollins for the World Title at WrestleMania XL unless he wins some sort of number one contenders cage bout at Elimination Chamber next month. That's on the cards, one would imagine, especially after Cody Rhodes was picked to win the Rumble over Punk.

WWE cleverly kept their options open by putting Cody over instead of Punk too. Now, CM vs. Rollins still isn't guaranteed and we're almost into February. So, should Seth have to step away due to injuries after all, then creative can pivot and make that aforementioned Chamber bout for his vacated title.

Punk should win either way.

Rollins defending against Punk is presumably still the plan for Philly, but CM also eliminating Drew McIntyre means there's a story to tell with the Scot as well. Credit must go to the writer who carefully laid out all of this backup on the off chance Seth can't compete.
