10 New Directions For WWE After WrestleMania 39 (Night 2)
Cody Rhodes is about to redeem himself after WrestleMania 39's shocking conclusion.
Night 1 of WrestleMania 39 served up title changes, Austin Theory beating his childhood hero, Logan Paul delivering the goods again, father vs. son battles and brand new Undisputed Tag-Team Champions. Night 2 though. Oh boy! WWE split the audience with some of the decisions made there.
Specifically, the main event's conclusion rocked an awful lot of folks, and sent them spilling onto Twitter seeking explanations for what they'd just witnessed. Pretty much everybody believed Cody Rhodes would end Roman Reigns' run as dual WWE and Universal Champ at 'Mania, but it didn't happen.
The 'Tribal Chief' marches on as WWE's top man for another while longer.
Where does creative take all of this, and what's next for characters like Drew McIntyre, GUNTHER, Omos, Bianca Belair, Judgment Day and Shane McMahon coming out of the bumper weekender? There are loads of key decisions to make, but WWE doesn't have a lot of time to sit and take a breather.
Backlash, King & Queen Of The Ring and Money In The Bank are all on the horizon over the next few months. Here's what's coming on those shows and beyond...
10. New Women’s Tag-Team Champions
Think of Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler as the Women’s Tag-Team Champs elect.
Injuries stopped them from doing much during the “Showcase” bout (which didn't have a hope in hell of matching the surprising fun served up by the men's version 24 hours before), but the ex-MMA pair strolled in for the win and laughed at everybody else for crying after the fact.
When fit, Ronda and Shayna will surely challenge Becky Lynch and Lita for the Women's Tag straps. That can play some part in the split story that's surely incoming over on the babyface side - Trish Stratus will likely be involved in all of that merriment herself.
Rousey and Baszler have emerged as strong candidates to dominate the title scene for most of 2023. Lita returning to team with Becky and snatch the belts from Damage CTRL doesn't really change that, because WWE has bigger plans afoot for Lynch and Stratus.
