10 New Directions For WWE After WrestleMania 40's Press Conference

1. Family Warfare At ‘Mania 41

Roman Reigns The Rock
WWE

The Rock said he was playing the "long game" ahead of this 'Mania 40 press event. He actually said something to that effect a few times, but WWE hasn't done a deep dive on exactly what that means quite yet. In short, it probably means Rocky vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 41 next year.

Year-long build for a 'Mania match is hardly unprecedented.

The Rock has already been involved in a 12-month build himself - WWE cemented his bout vs. John Cena in advance back in 2011, for example. The company might've just tried something similar with Reigns here. Maybe that's what their handshake was really all about.

A family feud to determine the real 'Head Of The Table' like this one never needed titles on the line in the first place. Roman can now drop the Undisputed gold to Cody this year, then start prepping for a 'Tribal Chief' showdown with Dwayne in 2025.
