10 New Generation-Era WWE Stars You Totally Don't Remember

2. TANK

Tank Truth Commission

You've got to dig a little deep for this one, but man oh man is it worth it. We all remember Mantaur, right? A consistent presence at the top of 'Worst Gimmicks Ever' lists, Mantaur was half man and half bull but all bullsh*t, and I'm fairly sure I'm not the only person to refer to the gimmick as such. You may also remember The Truth Commission too, the brief faction that introduced Kurrgan to the WWF along with the first incarnation of Bull Buchanan.

What do you get if you cross Mantaur with The Truth Commission? TANK. Tank is what you get. The man under the horns was Mike Halac, and Halac returned to the WWF in 1997 as the newest member of the Commission, although he wrestled under a mask so as to hide the fact that it was Mantaur. This measure seems rather superfluous, as I'm fairly sure people remembered Mantaur's horns as opposed to his face.

Hilariously, Tank is undefeated on WWF TV. He only wrestled in two matches, two six-man tags no less, but he and his fellow Truth Commission buddies were victorious in their bouts against the teams of jobbers they faced. If you can name the other members of the Commission without any internet assistance, I tip my hat to you.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
