10 No-Win WWE Situations

1. John Cena's Character

Calls for John Cena to turn heel have quietened over recent years, largely because, in Roman Reigns, fans have at last found a baby-face they find more objectionable than the 16-time world champion - who seems almost benign by comparison.

But, at one point, this was pretty much the only topic in town (provided the 'town' in question is the internet wresting community). Forums were absolutely flooded with theories on why and how WWE should move its franchise player over to the dark side.

In not doing so, the company incurred the noisy, pent-up wrath of the die-hards. Vince McMahon was repeatedly accused of being out of touch with his audience; how could he be so deaf as to not hear that Cena was being booed out of almost every arena in the country?

Equally, had executives yielded to the pressure, it would have meant risking alienating an equally large section of the fanbase - namely the kids to whom Big Match John was a real-life Superman. Ticket sales would have tanked. The WWE Shop forced to close. Stock shares plummeted. Earthquakes in San Francisco.

Not worth it, was it?
