10 Non-Wrestlers WWE Or AEW Should Sign

3. Mauro Ranallo

MLW's Salina De La Renta

Make no mistake about it, Mauro Ranallo is one of the five best commentators in professional wrestling today. He might even be top of that particular list. Who is better? Excalibur, maybe. Samoa Joe? Not with Vince McMahon in his ear, not a chance. Don Callis could take that cake, but anyone who doesn't have Ranallo in the upper echelons of that list simply hasn't been paying attention.

Ranallo and WWE parted ways at the end of August but that isn't the first time such a thing has happened. Much has been written about the treatment of Ranallo over the years, but the announcer seemed to have found himself a comfortable niche as the voice of NXT. If stability returns to wrestling in 2021, Ranallo may well be back behind the desk on Wednesday nights.

Or maybe he'll find a way to join Excalibur and Tony Schiavone on Dynamite? AEW's commentary team is still trying to find its voice, and Ranallo could well be the missing ingredient that turns a good show into a great one. JR's best days are behind him, the legend that he is, and AEW could give Ranallo a space and platform to become this generation's best.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
