7. The Authors Of Pain

Ever look at the name of a WWE act who no longer works for the company and think to yourself, "Man, how did they screw that up?". The Authors of Pain are likely in that dropdown folder.

Sure, they may have worked stiff to the point of being occasionally dangerous, and were seemingly plagued by the injury bug once they got called to RAW in 2018, but throughout their NXT run and the better part of their main roster stint, Akam and Rezar were the prototypical monster bruisers Vince McMahon loves to keep in stock.

The fatal flaw occurred on the Raw after WrestleMania 34. They inexplicably ditched corner man Paul Ellering immediately following their debut only to recruit Drake Maverick for the same role weeks later. AoP was rendered effectively rudderless until uniting with Seth Rollins in 2019, but the injury bug bit again the following March and their contracts were dropped in September in the midst of a hard reset for the team.

Wherever the future takes this duo, it's imperative that Ellering comes with them. Impact could be an interesting choice, it could help build back the company's struggling profile while putting Ellering under the same roof as his daughter, Rachael.
