10 Most Notorious Batista Urban Legends

4. He Was Scheduled To Win The WWE Title At WrestleMania 30

Wrestlemania 30Story: Batista was supposed to come back at the 2014 Royal Rumble, get cheered by the fans because it was his first appearance in four years and then get an even bigger ovation after he won the Rumble for the second time in his career. Instead, he was booed at the end of the night. For the next month he was still a babyface until after the Elimination Chamber PPV when he turned heel. The original WrestleMania 30 plans were reported as Triple H vs. CM Punk, John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt, Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan (Sheamus would turn heel), Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker and babyface Batista challenging Randy Orton for the WWE Title. Those were the top five matches. Since Daniel Bryan was getting cheered so much and CM Punk quit after the Rumble match, WWE put Bryan into the match with Triple H as well as the WWE Title match at WrestleMania. It was Bryan that won the Championship from Randy Orton while Batista was a non-factor. He worked a few more months as part of Evolution, but then he was gone. The question is, should we believe that WWE was actually thinking this? Why People Believe It: Since Batista won the Rumble as a face, then was booked as a face for another month, it's definitely possible that he was booked to win the WWE Title at WrestleMania. Should We Believe It: Yes. That was the plan. They figured that Batista would be cheered a lot after being away for four years and they were wrong. Fans wanted Bryan in that spot. It took WWE a few months to get it right, but they eventually figured it out. Batista is likely upset he didn't get the WWE Title run he was basically promised, but that's pro wrestling. Things change all the time.
