7. He Only Returned To WWE Because Of Injuries In UFC
Story: Lesnar's UFC career lasted for four years. He debuted in February of 2008, lost to Frank Mir and then won four straight matches including a victory over UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture. He also avenged his loss to Mir by beating him in a rematch. Lesnar lost the title to Cain Velasquez in October 2010 and he missed a year of fighting before losing to Alistair Overeem in his final fight in December of 2011. The reason Lesnar missed over a year of action was because he had a major stomach illness called diverticulitis. He had surgery to recover from it. Then the illness came back a second time, so he was sidelined for a significant amount of time. Without the injury, he might have been able to fight for longer. Why People Believe It: He had a lot of success in UFC, so there had to be a reason why he left. Injuries were the main factor more than anything else. Should We Believe It: It seems like there's some legitimacy to the idea that if he could pick one or the other he might be in UFC right now. He had a lot of success in UFC as a top draw that was doing huge business for the company. However, his health issues prevented him from fighting more often. It wasn't worth the risk.
