6. He Didn't Make It In The NFL Because Of Injuries And His Celebrity Status

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO65w-8E1IQ Story: When Lesnar left WWE in 2004 he did so because he wanted to try to make the Minnesota Vikings NFL team as a defensive lineman. He didn't play college football like the majority of NFL players, but he was a good enough athlete that he had some legitimate potential. Lesnar played in a few of the Vikings' preseason games and ended up being one of the final cuts from their 53 man roster. He was very close to making the team, which would have been a phenomenal story for a 27 years old guy that didn't play college ball. When Lesnar was cut, there were two reasons that were floating around. The first one was due to an accident he suffered while he was on a motorcycle. Even though he recovered to make it to camp, his injuries to his jaw, hand, pelvis and groin were tough to deal with. The other popular theory was that the Vikings didn't want to put him on the team because he would have been a sideshow as a former WWE Champion. The theory was that he would have been a distraction that they didn't want to deal with. Lesnar was offered a sport on their NFL Europe team, but he passed and gave up his goal to play in the NFL. Why People Believe It: He performed well enough to make it to the final cut, but he ended up falling short. Perhaps the idea of having a former WWE Champion on the team was too much of a distraction for them. Should We Believe It: No. Most likely he didn't make it is because at 27 he was older than the other rookies by about five years, so if they had other guys in his spot they were going to keep the younger guys. That's just how the NFL is a lot of time. His fame in WWE probably didn't play a major factor although we don't really know. If he was good enough he would have made it.
