5. He Broke Bob Holly's Neck Because They Had Heat

Story: During a Smackdown match during Lesnar's initial push as WWE Champion, he was in a match with "Hardcore" Bob Holly. Lesnar picked him up for a Powerbomb, then dropped him right on his head. On commentary, Michael Cole said that Lesnar did it on purpose. It was his way of putting over Lesnar as a vicious heel that could hurt anybody at any time. After it happened, a lot of fans thought that Lesnar did it on purpose too. It's not like the Powerbomb was a major part of his arsenal although he did used to do a double Powerbomb spot once in a while. Holly ended up missing about a year of action after the injury and they even used it as part of a brief feud they had in late 2003 and early part of 2004. They even had a WWE Title match at the 2004 Royal Rumble, which Lesnar won convincingly. http://youtu.be/Q1UJg_IpB-w Why People Believe It: Holly had a rep as a bit of a hardass, so some people didn't like him. Because of that, there was a belief that he intentionally didn't let Lesnar pick him up and that's why he got dropped on his head that night. Should We Believe It: No. It wasn't on purpose. Maybe Holly made it difficult for him, but it's not like Lesnar did it intentionally. In fact, here's a quote from Bob Holly in a 2013 interview: "Let me clear something up, people write stupid s--t on the internet all the time saying me and Brock didn't get along. Me and him got along just fine and we worked well together. I did break my neck during a match with Brock but he called me all the time while I was in the hospital checking up on me. People say that he did it on purpose and I got what I deserved, let me tell you something no one deserves to get a broken neck number one, and he didn't do it on purpose!" There's no better source than the guy that was on the receiving end of a broken neck. Holly could have been bitter about it, but he was honest in saying that Lesnar did it as an accident.
