10 Most Notorious Chris Jericho Urban Legends

10. He Was Upset That WWE Ignores Chris Benoit

Story: When Chris Benoit killed his wife and son, as well as himself, in June 2007 it was the biggest black mark in the wrestling business. Jericho was out of WWE during this period, but when talk shows like Larry King or others needed a wrestler to talk to, they put him on. Jericho was a close friend of Benoit. He's also a well spoken guy, so he really handled himself well. When Jericho had a DVD released in 2010 featuring some of his best matches, he couldn't include the Royal Rumble 2001 classic they had or when they won the tag titles against Steve Austin and Triple H later that year. In his books as well as interviews, he's often remarked that it's a shame that they can't include anything related to Benoit anymore. Jericho recently said they're working on another DVD for him and they still can't include any Benoit matches even though Benoit matches are on WWE Network for shows he wrestled on. Why People Believe It: Since Benoit was his friend, it's believable that Jericho would be upset about some of their matches being left out. Should We Believe It: No. At least he's not that upset about it. He's probably frustrated because they are great matches that he wants to share, but he also understands it. He was talking about it on his Talk is Jericho podcast in October. Here's a quote about it: "There are probably a combined total of about fifty matches that are on there between those two DVDs but I could never include a Benoit match. One, I don€™t think I€™m allowed to. Two, I don€™t know if I€™d want to, and that was one of the greatest moments of my career. Absolutely one of my favorite opponents and probably a dozen classic matches that I€™d want to put on there, including the ladder match we had at the Royal Rumble in 2001, which I think is one of the best ladder matches of all time, totally forgotten because of Chris and the fact they don€™t show any of his matches anymore." Regarding the tag title match, he added this: "I can€™t watch that match. I think I€™ve watched it once and it€™s good, it€™s a great classic five star match, but it€™s always tainted when I see Chris Benoit."
