10. His Drunken Behavior In 2013 Cost Jim Ross His WWE Job
Story: During SummerSlam weekend in 2013, WWE had a press event where they were promoting the WWE2K14 video game. Jim Ross was moderating it while Flair was one of the panelists talking about his career. Instead of following the script and staying on topic, Flair rambled a lot and was telling all kinds of random stories. He even mentioned other wresting companies, which is a major no-no at a WWE event. There were stories that Flair was seen drinking before the event, so that could have played a part in it. Ross ended up taking the heat for the event going off track since he was a WWE employee while Flair was only on a Legends Contract. Soon after that, Ross lost his job with WWE and given a severance package. Now he has nothing to do with WWE. It has gone so far that WWE won't even let their talent go on JR's podcast although they let them go on the podcasts of Steve Austin and Chris Jericho. Why People Believe It: The timing of it all fits, so it's very believable. It is weird that Flair's behavior would hurt Ross so much, but that's the wrestling business. It's not normal. Should We Believe It: Yes we should because Ross admitted it earlier this year, so it's pretty well known by this time. There was something about the incident that wasn't discussed enough. Flair's son Reid died of an accidental drug overdose in March 2013, so it was still difficult for Ric to be in front of a crowd because of the loss of his son. WWE really shouldn't have put Ric in that spot and then blamed Ross for not being able to handle him.
