10 Most Notorious Ric Flair Urban Legends

9. He Really Hated Working For Vince Russo In WCW

http://youtu.be/7TmGahnO-EA Story: There are all kinds of "Legends of Wrestling" discussions on WWE Network that previously aired on WWE 24/7. Back in 2008, Flair was part of a panel that talked about different people in the wrestling industry with a focus on WCW. One of the names that Flair mentioned was Vince Russo. Russo was brought into WCW in late 1999 to run the company from a creative standpoint. He had booking power over everybody. It lasted for about three months, then he was removed and brought back again a few months later. Flair was involved in a feud with him that also incorporated Flair's son David and even younger son Reid. During that Legends of Wrestling roundtable, Flair said that WCW "was the most disorganized & disabled wrestling company alive" when Russo was running things. He also said that he was embarrassed to be there when Ed Ferrera (Russo's writing partner) was portraying the Oklahoma character that was a ripoff of Jim Ross. He has said many other things about Russo and then they still worked together in TNA Wrestling years later. For his part, Russo said that Flair never had a problem with him. This is what he wrote on his website pyroandballyhoo.com: "While we worked together Ric never said ANYTHING negative about anything. It was HIS IDEA for me to shave his head. I gave his son, David, the most exposure he ever had in his career. We put his younger son Reed on TV. What more did Ric want? Again€”nothing was ever said to me to my face by Ric€”even when we worked together later at TNA." Based on those comments, Flair had problems with him and Russo claims those problems didn't exist. Who is telling the truth? Why People Believe It: A lot of people hated working with Russo although if you look back at Russo's run, he did try to involve a lot of people in storylines. Flair was likely honest with his opinion, but it was also something he said on a WWE show. Should We Believe It: If what Russo's saying is true then Flair was the liar in this situation. Most likely, Flair just said what he did because it was a WWE show he was on. As mentioned, he did work for Russo in TNA later. If he really hated the guy, would he have worked with him again? Seems unlikely. The guess is that Flair was probably fabricating things a bit since he was on a WWE show when he made those comments.
