7. He Was Angry With Hulk Hogan About Their SummerSlam 2005 Match
Story: Michaels was a babyface when he returned to the ring in 2002 and stayed in that role for the majority of the next eight years, but he was a heel for about a month in 2005. After turning on Hulk Hogan, Michaels was in the heel role at SummerSlam 2005. Hogan won the match, but that wasn't the main story. What got people talking was the performance of Michaels. He did a lot of ridiculous, over the top bumps in the match where he made a mockery of things. When Hogan did his basic moves, Michaels would sell them by doing flips. After Hogan hit his patented big boot to the face, Michaels spun around in a circle before bumping. On the Raw after SummerSlam, Hogan was out of WWE. Michaels stated in a promo that Hogan was on a plane back to Florida and would return only if WWE gave him what he wanted. That led to Michaels doing the money gesture with his hands as his way of saying Hogan was only in it for the money. Michaels was back to being a face, but only after he got that last shot in on Hogan. The story goes that Hogan had originally agreed to have at least two matches with Michaels with Michaels getting the win during one of them. Instead, Hogan only agreed to wrestle at SummerSlam and get the win. Apparently Hogan wasn't happy with payoffs and that's part of it, but it could have been he just didn't want to put over HBK. Why People Believe It: Look at his performance. He made a mockery of the match. Even if you don't know about backstage stuff in wrestling, you could see he wasn't taking the match seriously. http://youtu.be/gf4LsjwAWho Should We Believe It: Yes. Michaels must have been very upset about Hogan refusing to put him over in a match, so he went out of his way to turn the match into a joke. A professional shouldn't act that way although it was pretty funny. His relationship with Hogan seems to be okay now, much like the relationship with The Rock mentioned earlier. Once you're rich and retired it's easy to not get worked up over this stuff.
