Story: When Shawn was having with issues with Bret Hart in the summer of 1997, they had a famous fight backstage, hours before a TV taping. When the fight was over and Hart had ripped out a chunk of Shawn's hair, apparently Shawn said something about how he couldn't take it anymore and he was going to WCW. At the time, his good friends Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were in top positions in WCW as part of the New World Order stable, so Michaels would have fit in well. Of course, we have no idea how he would have been used or if WCW would have been smart enough to put him in main events right away. We also don't know how serious Michaels was about leaving WWE. It never happened, so that's why it's just one of those rumors that has surrounded him over the years. Would he have ever left WWE? Only he knows. Why People Believe It: The situation with Hart was rough, so it's believable that he would leave WWE in order to avoid hating showing up to work every week. Should We Believe It: No. It's unlikely that the talks with Michaels going to WCW were ever that serious. He was in the prime of his career and Vince McMahon valued him a lot, so he would have done anything he could to keep him. Michaels was a true WWE only kind of guy.
